These terms apply to reservations for the 2026 Adirondack Fall Photography Intensive offered by Jonathan Z Photography. By completing the required readiness acknowledgments and paying the $99 deposit, you agree to the commercial and participation terms below for your selected workshop date.
Registered participants may also be required to complete a separate intake, emergency-information form, and participant agreement before taking part in the field workshop. Those later forms do not replace the payment, cancellation, or weather-date rules stated here.
1. Eligibility and reservation
- Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Each checkout reserves one seat for one participant.
- Each workshop date is limited to seven paying participants.
- A seat is reserved only after the $99 deposit has been successfully paid through Shopify.
- Saturday is the primary workshop date and the following Sunday is the required weather-reserve date. You must remain available for both days of your selected weekend.
2. Price and payment
The total workshop price is $499 per participant.
- $99 is due when you reserve your seat.
- The remaining balance is $400.
- For the September 26 workshop, the $400 balance is due September 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
- For the October 3 workshop, the $400 balance is due September 19, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
After the deposit is confirmed, a separate Shopify balance invoice is sent for the remaining $400. You may pay it immediately or anytime before the applicable deadline. Shopify order and payment records control whether a payment has been received.
3. Physical requirements
This is an active outdoor photography workshop on Adirondack terrain. The field day is split into a morning session and a second afternoon or evening session with a substantial rest period between them. Participants must carry their own photography equipment.
- September: the planned routes total approximately 5.31 miles and 1,132 feet of cumulative ascent across the two separated field sessions.
- October: the planned routes total approximately 4.71 miles and 2,524 feet of cumulative ascent across the two separated field sessions.
- The October workshop includes one short, very steep ascent gaining approximately 1,149 feet in under one mile.
- Participants must be comfortable traveling on uneven trails and natural surfaces that may include rocks, roots, mud, wet surfaces, steep grades, and darkness.
- Headlamp travel before sunrise or after sunset may be required.
Route distances and gain are approximate. A route may be adjusted when safety, access, weather, foliage, or field conditions require it. You are responsible for honestly assessing whether you can meet the published physical requirements before reserving.
4. Weather reserve and itinerary changes
Saturday is the assumed workshop date. Sunday is the alternate weather date, not an additional included workshop day. Moving the workshop from Saturday to Sunday is not a cancellation and does not create a refund right.
The workshop may move to Sunday because of dangerous weather, thunderstorms, unsafe wind, sustained heavy rain that materially compromises the planned route, access closure, unsafe trail conditions, or another substantial safety or operational problem. Clouds, fog, intermittent rain, or overcast skies do not automatically require a date change.
Jonathan will communicate the likely Saturday-versus-Sunday decision by Thursday afternoon when practical. Later changes remain possible when a forecast, access issue, or safety condition materially changes.
Exact routes, route order, meeting points, and timing may change for safety, access, weather, foliage, or materially better photographic conditions. A route change is not a cancellation when the workshop is still delivered.
5. Foliage and photographic conditions
Workshop dates and routes are selected for strong historical fall potential, but natural conditions cannot be guaranteed. Registration does not guarantee peak foliage, fog, calm water, sunrise color, sunset color, clear mountain views, or any specific photograph.
6. Participant cancellation and refunds
More than 14 days before the primary Saturday
If you cancel more than 14 days before the primary Saturday, every workshop payment you have made is refunded and your seat is released.
From 14 days until 48 hours before the confirmed workshop start
The $99 deposit is nonrefundable. If the $400 balance has been paid, the $400 is refunded. The refund does not depend on Jonathan filling the released seat.
Less than 48 hours before the confirmed workshop start, or no-show
The $99 deposit and any paid $400 balance are nonrefundable. Jonathan may make a discretionary exception for a documented emergency.
Meaning of confirmed workshop start
The 48-hour period is measured from the actual start time of the confirmed workshop day. If Saturday is confirmed, the period is measured from the Saturday meeting time. If the workshop is moved to Sunday, it is measured from the Sunday meeting time after the weather-date decision is issued.
7. Cancellation by Jonathan Z Photography
If Jonathan Z Photography cancels the workshop entirely, meaning it cannot be held on either the primary Saturday or the Sunday weather-reserve date, every participant will receive a full refund of all workshop payments made, including the $99 deposit and any $400 balance payment.
If a suitable future workshop is offered, you may choose to transfer those workshop payments instead of receiving the refund, but that transfer is optional.
A workshop refund applies to workshop payments. Lodging, transportation, airfare, meals not included in the workshop, and other personal travel costs remain the participant's responsibility. Travel insurance is not included.
8. Transfers
You may request to transfer your seat to another qualified adult. Transfers require Jonathan's approval, are not guaranteed, and may be declined when there is not enough time to complete the replacement participant's required forms or preparation. The replacement participant must complete all applicable requirements before attending. The original participant remains responsible for the reservation until Jonathan confirms the transfer in writing.
9. What registration includes
- Two substantial Adirondack field photography sessions.
- A maximum group of seven participants.
- A live online preparation orientation.
- A full sit-down group breakfast after the morning field session.
- Jonathan's autumn Lightroom presets.
- A recorded RAW-to-final autumn edit.
- One private 30-minute post-workshop Zoom review.
- One professional unframed paper print in either 12 × 18 or 10 × 20 format.
10. What is not included
- Lodging.
- Transportation to the Adirondacks or between workshop locations.
- Lunch or dinner.
- Camera equipment.
- Travel insurance.
Participants provide their own vehicle between meeting locations. Voluntary carpooling may occur between participants, but Jonathan Z Photography does not provide participant transportation.
11. Private route information and workshop materials
Exact workshop locations, meeting points, access instructions, and route materials are privately disclosed to registered participants. Please do not redistribute private access instructions or participant-only workshop materials. Educational downloads supplied with the workshop are intended for the registered participant's personal use and may not be resold or publicly redistributed.
12. Outdoor risks and participant responsibility
Adirondack hiking and outdoor photography involve inherent risks, including slips and falls, steep or uneven terrain, changing weather, darkness, wet or slippery surfaces, falling branches or rocks, wildlife, limited cell service, and delayed access to emergency assistance. Participants are expected to use reasonable judgment, carry required equipment, follow safety instructions, and communicate promptly if they cannot safely continue.
Nothing in these terms is intended to waive any right or liability that cannot lawfully be waived. Any separate participant agreement will be provided and completed before field participation when required.
13. Participant photographs and publicity
You retain ownership of photographs you create during the workshop. Purchasing a workshop seat does not automatically give Jonathan Z Photography permission to use your photographs, likeness, or testimonial for advertising. Any such permission will be requested separately when applicable.
14. Privacy
Reservation, payment, communication, and participant information is handled in accordance with the Jonathan Z Photography Privacy Policy. Payment-card details are handled by Shopify and its payment providers rather than stored on the Jonathan Z Photography website.
15. Updates and contact
The version of these terms presented when you reserve your seat controls the commercial terms of that reservation unless a later change is required by law or you affirmatively agree to it. Material operational updates, including the final route and weather decision, will be communicated directly to registered participants.
