Jonathan Zaharek
Adirondack photographer, filmmaker, guidebook author, and High Peaks hiker based in Lake Placid.
Whether you found my work through Instagram, YouTube, a gallery, or this website, you can probably tell that I love the Adirondacks. I moved my life here from Ohio in 2019, but my family connection to these mountains goes back much farther. My great-grandmother vacationed here in the 1920s, and that tradition eventually became part of my own childhood summers in the Adirondacks.
Jonathan’s photography grew out of a life spent hiking deep into the Adirondack mountains. Over the years, he has completed thirteen rounds of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks, three winter rounds, and more than 8,000 miles on Adirondack trails. Those miles have shaped the way he sees and photographs the region. Rather than approaching the mountains only as a photographer, Jonathan has carried his camera through long hikes, early-morning starts, winter summits, remote ponds, alpine ridges, and countless miles of trail, documenting the Adirondacks as he experiences them along the way. His work is rooted in that connection: the perspective of someone who knows the High Peaks not just from scenic overlooks, but from years of walking through them in every season.

A life shaped by photography, mountains, and the Adirondacks.
I discovered my love for photography and the outdoors in 2013, and almost immediately began photographing these mountains. Over time, that passion grew into a life centered around exploring, documenting, and sharing the Adirondacks.
My goal is to showcase my Creator’s glory through His creation and to show just how beautiful this place is. I have traveled to every state nearly three times and to 32 countries, yet I have never found a place as meaningful or as beautiful to me as the Adirondacks.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and support this work. Every print, calendar, and inquiry helps me continue photographing and sharing the Adirondacks for years to come.
